- One of the leading purposes of this course is to show you that translation in the area of chemistry, pharmacy and ecology can actually be quite exciting. By the end of the course you will be able to translate chemical, pharmaceutical and ecology-oriented text with ease and confidence.
- Syllabus (in Czech)
- The language of chemistry, pharmacy and ecology is a very specific kind of language. This e-learning course is designed to make you an expert mainly in the grammatical and lexical areas of this language. For this reason, the course is entirely practical. It presents authentic materials and deals with situations you are likely to encounter as a translator in the field.
The course is organized into twelve units and is roughly separated into two parts. The first part, comprising Units 2 - 6, deals with grammatical and lexical issues of translation of texts from the field of pharmaceutical industry. There is also a translation miniproject at the end of Unit 6.
The second half of the course, comprising Units 7 - 10, focuses on grammatical and lexical issue of translation of texts from the field of chemistry and ecology. Unit 11 comprises summarizing exercises based on all the translation issues discussed in the previous units.
