Course objectives
This course is the first in a series of grammar courses. It aims to provide an account of English morphology, focusing on verbs, nouns, articles, and pronouns.

  • 1) Introduction: a discoruse perspective on grammar
    2) Verbs - verbal forms and the verb phrase
    3) Verbs - the primary auxiliaries - do, have, be
    4) Verbs - the modal auxiliaries
    5) Verbs - tense and aspect
    6) Verbs - mood and voice
    7) Nouns - number
    8) Nouns - gender and case
    9) Nouns - countability
    10)Pronouns - specific pronouns
    11)Pronouns - indefinite pronouns

Teacher's information
To pass the course, the students are required to achieve at least 70% in a written test based on Svoboda&Kučer (verbs, nouns, pronouns, and articles) and the materials covered in the seminars. Those who pass the written test proceed to the oral exam.
