Course objectives
The course is devoted to the basics of relational databases and nonprocedural a standardized language SQL. The students are acquainted with the administration of SQL Server, creating a relational database as the basis of the information system.
Syllabus (in Czech)
  • Databázové systémy.
    Popis systémů, vlastnosti, objektově orientovaný databázový model.
    Relační databáze.
    Popis, základní pojmy, matematický aparát, vyhledávácí algoritmy.
    Návrh databáze. Základní postupy při tvorbě relační databáze, konceptuální schéma, ER-diagramy, typy atributů, relačního spojení, normalizace databází.
    Jazyková syntaxe SQL. Matematický aparát, predikáty, logické spojky, manipulace s DB, relacemi, entitami, projekce, selekce, agregace dat, řízení transakcí, řízení přístupových práv.
    Využití SQL. v programových prostředcích: PERL, PHP.
    Praktika jsou věnovány nasazení jazyka ve spojení s www aplikacemi, instalaci SQL serveru mySQL a jeho optimalizaci.

Teacher's information
To obtain the credit, students must hand in a semester project. The semester project will consist of a database created by students on a topic obtained after a consultation with the lecturer, by the midway through the teaching period. The database must be a functional unit that is error free and that will store data on the given topic.
The exam consists of a consultation about the semester project. The evaluation of the project will focus on its overall completion, namely: the reliability of the development of the database, student's personal contribution to the work on the theme, possibilities of further development of the database and also students' understanding of the issues and the acquired knowledge during the course.
