- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to get a comprehensive and systematic overview of current multimedia technologies, their capabilities and applications.
- Syllabus
- It will be discussed the basic historical milestones of development of audiovisual technology, reviewed the key features of current technology and outlined anticipated future development. Emphasis will be placed on a full understanding of the basic principles on which the work of audiovisual equipment depends. Students will become familiar with typical parameters by using different types of AV devices and chains, qualified staff and practical application.
1. Historical Introduction (prehistory AV recording and playback).
2. Overview of analog technology - principles, advantages and disadvantages, the main species and types (analog) devices, their parameters, limits of analog technology. Experience with the selected analog technology.
3. Overview of digital technology - principles, advantages and disadvantages, the main species and types (digit.) devices, their parameters, limits of digital technology, 3D technology. Experience with major kinds of digital devices.
4. AV recording and reproducing digital and analogue chain.

- Requirements to pass the credit test: 80% attendance in tutorials, completion of practical assignments, pass mark of 50% in final written test.
