Course objectives
The course introduces a selection of computing media and platforms (mostly in an experimental phase) alternative to the recent silicon computer technology. This technology is reaching its physical limitations and alternative computing approaches are sought. The course focuses on 1) quantum computing based on qubits, quantum algorithms and cryptography, 2) DNA computing based on programmed manipulations with DNA molecules, leading to nano-automata and nano-robots, and 3) cellular computing based on production and multiplication of engineered cells able to perform pre-programmed tasks.

A study of selected new media topics due to teacher's recommendation related to the PhD thesis of the student, an oral exam.
