Syllabus
  • The seminar is to offer an introduction into the basic techniques of how to write a scholarly thesis (Bachelor, Diploma, Master):
    - Structure and internal form of a thesis
    - Research into literature
    - Quotations and paraphraes of texts written by other authors
    - Contents and bibliography
    - Techniques of argument and summaries
    Students who are already writing a final thesis will be offered the opportunity to practise on the base of their chosen subject. In addition, practical exercises for everyone will be carried through by using short texts from different fields and genres as examples.- Of course there will be offered the opportunity to discuss problems you might be confronted with while preparing or writing your own thesis.

Regular attendance in class (80% minimum), active participation in class, portfolio of written exercises which should be revised and expanded in the course of the term.
