Course objectives
The seminar deals with the periodization and trends in the German literature in the second half of the 20th century, Attention will be paid specifically to the history of German literature in both independent German states in the period from 1945-49 to 1989-90. The seminar leader presents a overview of the most significant authors and literary genres in the aforementioned time period in both German states. The self-study is orientated at the above mentioned literary periods. The self-study will be based on the topics covered in the seminar. The focus of the self-studies lies on literary analysis. This analysis will be realized on the basis of the instructions of the seminar leader. Authentic materials will be used. These materials will be analyzed with instruments common to literary studies.
