- Course objectives
- This translation course is based on genuine texts which are required to be translated from English to Czech. The whole course is designed to meet the needs of nowadays students of English Philology who are interested in a future career of professional translators or interpreters in the field of Business Communication or those who want to gain as much practical experience in this field as possible. The objective of this course is to develop translation skills in each specific area of Business Communication, to introduce and present the unknown vocabulary and phrases and to practice translations from the source language to the target language. Each unit will have similar format consisting of the aims of each unit, introduction to unknown vocabulary, examples of various types of Business Communication texts and then exercises practising the translations from the source to the target language. There will also be a paragraph or short article from business and/or finance newspapers for reading comprehension, text analysis and translation practice. The Points to remember as well as the Glossary with the most important business terms and expressions will be presented at the end of each unit.
