Course objectives
This course gives students the opportunity to investigate the word-formation processes of Modern German. The first half of the course will explore the major word formation processes of German (compounding, derivation, blending), combining this survey with a thorough discussion of key concepts such as `morpheme`, `word`, `productivity` etc. The second half will focus on using the forms in written and spoken language. In the seminar part students can check their understanding of the principal word formation processes of German analyzing texts and corpora.
