Course objectives
To deepen knowledge of the quantum field theory. Aimed at students who will use the quantum field theory as a working tool.
Syllabus
  • Path integral quantization. Path integral for field theory. Evaluation of path integrals. Feynman diagrams. Grassmann variables, fermions in the path integral. Ghost fields. S-matrix and asymptotic theory. In- and out-states. S and T matrices. Källen-Lehmann representation. Lehmann-Symanzik-Zimmermann formalism. Generating functional. Connected parts. Radiative corrections in quantum electrodynamics. Vacuum polarization. Electron propagator. Vertex function. Ward identity. Counterterms and bare Lagrangian. Power counting. Regularization procedures.
