- Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- The goal of the course is to acquaint students with the functions of the components in personal computers. The lectures are focused on the solutions common in the practice.
- Learning outcomes
- Theoretical understanding of the issues within scope of the course. Practical skills in working with hardware.
- Syllabus
- 1. History of Computing technology. Computer structure, BIOS, UEFI.
2. Connectors and interfaces.
3. Motherboard, chipset, bus.
4. Processors. Processor architectures, instruction sets, various types of processors.
5. Primary memory.
6. Storage - hard drive, optical memory, flash memory, solid-state drive. RAID.
7. I/O devices.
8. Expansion cards - graphic, audio, network.
9. Power and cooling.
10. Basic maintenance and diagnostics of a computer.
