- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to acquire language and communicative skills necessary for efficient work in hospitality and tourism. The students will review, strengthen and improve the already acquired knowledge and skills with the aim to level them out within a particular group of students. The students will also learn basic special terminology in the area of tourism, hospitality and gastronomy.
- Syllabus
- 1. Grammar revision - tenses - present, past, future. Questions, question words. Parts of speech. Words with more than one meaning. Social expressions. Exchanging information. Informal letters.
2. Present tenses - Present Simple and Present Continuous. Have / have got. Describing countries. Collocations. Making conversation - getting and giving information. Linking words. Describing a person.
3. Past tenses - Past Simple and Past Continuous. Irregular verbs. Making connections, Suffixes to make different parts of speech. Making negatives. Time expressions. Newspaper stories. Telling stories. Linking words. Writing a story.
4. Quantity - many / much, some / any. Countable and uncountable nouns. Articles - definite, indefinite. Usage of articles. Buying thing, prices and shopping. Attitudes to shopping. Town survey. Filling in forms.
