- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to introduce students to important works of American literature, especially from a practical point of view. Emphasis is therefore placed on reading and working with specific texts, which includes textual analysis and its interpretation in the context of American literature and culture as a whole. Special attention is paid to the specific features of American literature, its sources of inspiration and interconnections, but also to the gradual development from dependence on British literature to independence and the path to pluralistic, multicultural nature of contemporary American literature.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, the student will be able to define the basic features of American literature, will know major epresentatives and works, will be able to analyze texts from different time periods and different genres, as well as apply basic literary concepts and use secondary sources.
