Course objectives
Cultural History represents an established field of historical research. The series of lectures and seminars follows the formation of cultural history, key phases of its development, interdisplinary character and current main topics. An emphasis will be on introducing the conceptual apparatus and chief works which are connected with cultural history. In the lectures the concept of culture as a semiotic system will be addressed. Seminars will be devoted to active work with literature.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
-identify and summarize the basic features in the development of cultural history
-describe the differences between different concepts of culture
-write and present a professional paper

Teaching methods
Lecture with discussion, work with literature and its critical analysis.
Assessment methods
To complete the course, the student must pass the final exam in the form of a written test at 70%, present a paper on literature and attend attendance at the seminar (max. 2 absences).
