Course objectives
The course is focused on deepening basic knowledge in the field of personal finance and the functioning of the financial market. Students will be able to assess their financial situation and set goals in the short, medium and long term and will be acquainted with the principles of operation of individual financial instruments at a general level.

  • 1. Introduction to financial literacy. What is financial literacy. Why be financially literate. Financial market and financial services map 2. Money and money concept. Functions of money. State Securities Printer. Replacement of damaged banknotes. State budget in a nutshell. Taxes and the tax system in the Czech Republic. 3. Personal finances. Individual areas in life and how to distribute income in different stages of life and life situations, eg decrease / increase in income (securing income and property, pensions, financial reserve, housing, family, dreams and wishes). Financial plan. 4. Household management. Budgeting. Working with the budget - deficit, surplus. Opportunities to increase revenue. Working with expenses. Reserves. Tax reduction options. 5. Revenue. Decrease and increase in income. Job x business. Wage calculation. Social insurance premiums, obligations of the employee and self-employed, obligations of the employer. Types of employment - HPP, DPP, DPČ, business - main activity, secondary activity. Active and passive income. 6. Securing income and property. Why secure income and property, who is the most important person in your income. Own savings x insurance. Insurance - life, non-life, liability. 7. Pension system in the Czech Republic.
