Course objectives
To acquaint students with the rules and principles of English grammar in the course, students will learn how language is structured and what the term grammar includes, as well as how the prescriptive and descriptive approach to grammar differs. Students will learn to distinguish between different word types and phrases, sentence members and sentence types.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- navigate the field of grammar;
- identify and describe how the language works and what are the approaches to grammar;
- distinguish individual word types and phrases, sentence members and sentence types;

  • 1. Verbs 1 (regular and irregular lexical verbs, primary auxiliaries) 2. Verbs 2 (modals) 3. Verbs 3 (tense and aspect) 4. Verbs 4 (mood and voice, nonfinite verb forms) 5. Nouns 1 (number, gender) 6. Nouns 2 (case, countability) 7. Articles (a/an, the, zero) 8. Pronouns 1 (specific) 9. Pronouns 2 (indefinite) 10. Adjectives and adverbs 11. Numerals 12. Prepositions
