- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to teach students to identify all English phonemes and reinforce their correct pronunciation. They will understand the phonological system of English pronunciation in contrast to Czech. In connection with this, the student will master phonological transcription and fluent reading of continuous text.
- Learning outcomes
- The student will recognize all English phonemes, articulate them correctly, and distinguish them from their Czech equivalents. They will understand the phonological system of English and its differences from Czech, master phonological transcription using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), and transcribe words as well as continuous text. They will achieve fluent reading of English texts with correct pronunciation, intonation, and rhythm, use word and sentence stress appropriately, and analyze and correct pronunciation errors based on phonetic principles.
