- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to understand the basic definition, subject and goals of the basic psychological discipline and the application of knowledge. Students are introduced to the basic facts about the somatic and psychological development of a person in all his developmental stages - in the prenatal, neonatal, infant, toddler, preschool, early school age, pubescence, adolescence, young, middle, late adulthood and old age, including the specifics of their possible behavior provoking a conflict situation during negotiations.

- Learning outcomes: Professional knowledge: - the student acquires and demonstrates knowledge of basic terminology related to the subject of developmental psychology - the student is able to describe the key developmental periods of a person according to various classifications - the student is able to characterize the psychological development of an individual in individual age periods with their characteristic milestones - the student is familiar with specific conflict and risk situations that individual periods predict Professional skills: - the student is able to assess the level of human development and a specific period - the student is able to apply knowledge of a specific ontogenetic period in a practical situation - the student is able to combine theoretical knowledge of the characteristics of individual developmental stages of a person with critical moments in life and conflict prevention - the student is able to create a case study of a person General competencies: - the student is able to predictively use and apply knowledge about human developmental periods in specific life situations and education
- Syllabus
- Content: 1. Definition of the discipline, subject and goals of developmental psychology, application possibilities, position in the system of sciences and relationship to other scientific disciplines. The concept of mental development, basic forms, factors and mechanisms of development. Methods of developmental psychological research, longitudinal, semi-longitudinal and cross-sectional research approach 2. Theory of determination and periodization of development. Prenatal period and its importance for further development. Neonatal period 3. Infant and toddler age - development of gross and fine motor skills, perception and development of pre-speech expressions; cognitive development; socialization 4. Preschool age - development of basic abilities and skills, cognitive development, development of child identity, emotional development and socialization 5. School maturity. School readiness. Problems associated with early schooling 6. Junior and middle school age - development of basic abilities and skills, cognitive development, emotional development and socialization 7. Adolescence - physical transformation, main psychological characteristics of adolescence, development of basic abilities, skills and interests, cognitive development, development of identity, emotional development and socialization 8. Adolescence - development of adolescent identity, socialization - relationships with adults, peers, entry into employment 9. Young adulthood - cognitive development, socialization, identity of young adulthood; professional roles, partnership, marriage, parenthood, period 1. assessment 10. Middle adulthood - physical changes, professional role change, partner relationship change, parental role change, relationship change to one's own parents, identity of a middle-aged person 11. Older adulthood - physical changes associated with the onset of aging, cognitive processes, personality development and role changes, professional roles, marriage of aging people, role of a grandparent 12. Old age - physical changes, psychological changes, retirement, change in lifestyle, issues of dying and death

- Assessment methods
- Passing the written exam; the exam questions will be selected from the course materials (scripts). The scripts will be available in the study materials repository. A prerequisite for being admitted to the exam is meeting the seminar attendance requirement.
Students on work placement: In order to complete the seminar, it is necessary to complete three individual assignments, which will be sent out progressively during the semester.
