Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquire knowledge and skills in the field of implementing information systems in healthcare. The course provides information on the use of computer support in healthcare services, with an emphasis on data standardization and normalization, legislative regulations, communication interface descriptions, data security and protection, and the interoperability of healthcare information systems. After completing the course, students will gain knowledge in the development, implementation, and support of large-scale healthcare information systems. They will also be able to apply both theoretical and practical knowledge to analyze issues related to the digitalization of healthcare in accordance with legislative requirements.
Learning outcomes
Expert Knowledge: The student is able to describe the legislative conditions for the implementation of information systems in healthcare and is familiar with current ICT trends used in practice. Professional Skills: Utilizing their expert ICT knowledge, the student is capable of effectively applying technologies in healthcare and in the management of electronic documents. General Competence: The student is able to independently decide which ICT tools to use in practice. Competency: The student manages healthcare information systems effectively in areas such as registries, documentation, and new technologies, with regard to personal data protection, data accuracy, and security.
Syllabus
Exercises: 1) Introduction to the course: definition of objectives and course content, overview of literature and sources, clarification of selected terms and their context. 2) Data, information, legislation, and standards in the implementation of information systems. 3) Information and communication technologies in healthcare. 4) Cybersecurity. 5) Comparison of eHealth implementation in the Czech Republic and EU countries. 6) National registries and information systems in healthcare. 7) Document management in healthcare. 8) Examples of best practices. 9) Introduction to statistics. 10)Basic statistical methods.
