- Course objectives
- In the general part of the course, students get to know the basic terms and areas of psychopathology, acquire the basics of understanding psychiatric syndromes, orient themselves in the boundaries of normality and pathology, including the etiology and classification of mental illnesses and conditions. In the special part of the course, students will also become familiar with the basic diagnoses and groups of diagnoses of psychiatric disorders and diseases according to the valid ICD-10, they will gain insight into the orientation of issues of differential diagnosis in psychiatry in the context of clinical psychology. Attention will be paid to the causes, manifestations, diagnosis, therapy, prognosis of individual psychiatric diseases and conditions within the framework of the developmental perspective and the possibilities of the field of special education with an emphasis on the issue of impaired communication skills.

- Expertise:
- the student demonstrates knowledge of basic terms and theoretical concepts related to psychopathology as a scientific field
- the student knows the concept of normality and uses it to investigate the human psyche and psychopathological phenomena
- the student can identify and characterize disorders of basic psychological functions
- the student knows selected disorders of basic psychological functions related to childhood
- the student orients himself in the different psychopathologies of persons with disabilities
Professional skills:
- the student can independently search for, critically evaluate and sort relevant facts from literary and other sources that relate to psychopathology and their selected questions
- the student can assess normality and pathology in the field of mental disorders
- the student can independently identify some selected psychopathologies of children and persons with disabilities based on personality psychology and the concept of normality
General qualifications:
- the student can independently discuss the burning issues of the current occurrence of psychopathological disorders in people in general, but also in childhood and in persons with disabilities
- the student practically knows the facilities for intervention assistance for persons who develop psychopathological deviations

- 1. Introduction to the study of psychopathology. Organization of psychiatric care in the Czech Republic. Classification of mental disorders and behavioral disorders according to valid classification systems (ICD-10, DSM-V, upcoming ICD-11). The role of clinical psychology in the context of diagnosis and treatment of these disorders
- 2. Etiopathogenesis of neuropsychiatric disorders – definition of the concept of norm and normality. A developmental perspective on the development of mental illness. Factors related to the development of neuropsychiatric disorders
- 3. Disorders of perception, thinking, consciousness and attention, emotions, intellect, memory, impulses, will and behavior, personality disorders
- 4. Neurodevelopmental disorders usually persisting into adulthood – intellectual and communication disorders, autism spectrum disorders, attention disorders and learning difficulties
- 5. Behavioral and emotional disorders specific to childhood
- 6. Organic mental disorders, including symptomatic ones
- 7. Mental disorders and behavioral disorders caused by the use of psychoactive substances
- 8. Schizophrenia, schizotypal disorders and delusional disorders

- Teacher's information
- Personal contact in lessons, consultation hours. During ongoing studies, the student uses study support and processes selected correspondence tasks. Here, at the same time, he will demonstrate his knowledge of compulsory literature and contact teaching lectures. The student will be able to continuously consult individually studied subject topics via e-mail, individual or group consultations. The subject has an e-learning course prepared in IS SU and a team established in MS Teams, which also serves as another possible tool for communication with the teacher and between students.
