Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide students with a basic and comprehensive knowledge of labour law and its principles in relation to social policy.
Learning outcomes
Professional knowledge: By the end of this course, the student will be able to understand the basic principles of labor law. They will also be capable of applying the fundamental concepts and gaining familiarity with the institutions central to labor law. Additionally, the student will acquire the ability to apply their basic knowledge of labor law in practical situations, particularly in conjunction with public law, especially social security law. Throughout the course, the student will also acquire knowledge related to the employment relationship, working conditions, health protection, and state employment policy.

Small Credit - Active participation in lectures - Preparation of an essay on the chosen topic o The essay will be written by a group of students in a maximum of 5 students. o The topic of the group essay will be based on at least one scholarly article from abroad (not from Slovakia), which is related to the topic of the course; please prefer Web of Science or Scopus database. o The essay will be 4 standard pages. o Procedure:  1. Students will form groups.  2. They will agree on an article that will be the basis for their essay.  3. They will formulate a research problem based on their chosen article and add their practical experience.  4. They will submit their essay to the IS submission room by April 30, 2023.  5. The essay will be presented at the last lecture.  6. The presentation will be 10 minutes + discussion. o A maximum of 15 points can be earned for the essay and presentation. o Evaluation Criteria:  Topic Relevance: please select a topic that is timely and that provides insights that are useful to today's society.  Ability to engage with provocative theses: Find a topic that is interesting to others and that will pique their interest in the issue.  Implications for practice: Develop a topic that is practical and useful to others.  Presentations o Using AI in essay writing: AI can be used, but it is necessary to mention this fact in the essay. Please be careful that AI is not omniscient and makes quite a few mistakes. Thus, information from AI must be properly verified. Exam - The exam consists of 15 open-ended questions. - Each question is scored 1 point - The exam is written. - All printed study materials may be used for the exam. Overall assessment: 1. Essay - max. 15 points 2. Exam test - max. 15 points A - 27 - 30 points B - 23 - 26 points C - 20-22 points D - 17 - 19 points E - 13 - 16 points F - 12 points or less
