Cílem předmětu je seznámit studenty s pojmovým aparátem pedagogiky (jde zejména o předmět pedagogiky, její strukturu, vztah k ostatním vědám, o vymezení základních kategorií, se kterými pedagogika pracuje, apod.), dále s organizací výchovy, s historií a se současnými trendy v soudobém pedagogickém dění.
