Course objectives
Clinical propaedeutics is an introduction to clinical subjects (e.g., medical propaedeutics is an introduction to internal medicine studies). The aim of the subject is to familiarize the student with the concepts of health, disease, with signs and symptoms, examination procedures and diagnostics. The subjects indicates the pathway to accurate diagnosis. On completion of the course, the student will be orientated in the skills necessary for patient examination.

    2. Physical examination.
    3. Overall status of the patient.
    4. Basic findings in the head and neck area.
    5. Basic findings in the chest and chest organ area.
    6. Basic findings in the abdomen and viscera.
    7. Examination of the musculoskeletal system.
    8. Basic neurologic examination.
    9. Overview of examination methods.
    10. Basic physical examinations.
    11. Examination of the head and neck.
    12. Examination of the chest, heart and lungs.
    13. Examination of the abdomen and viscera.
    14. Examination of the urogenital system.
    15. Examination of the musculoskeletal system.

Teacher's information
Contact hours are based on consultation of selected topics. Non-contact hours are realized via an e-learning environment available at http://elearning.fvp.slu.cz/. At the website, students can use learning materials with on-line assignments. Credits are granted upon successful completion based on a written or oral assessment where the student demonstrates knowledge of compulsory and recommended literature and discusses their on-line assignments. The student can consult the mentor concerning independently studied topics, be it in person, in group sessions or via e-mail.
Requirements for credit: 80 % active participation in practicals (students who could not meet attendance criteria due to serious obstacles will be given extra assignments).
Written test, a minimum of 80 % correct answers.
