Course objectives
The course European Union follows foundation, gradual formation and phasing of EU till the nowadays form connected with so called Treaty of Lisbon. The focus is on introduction of institutions of EU, their functions and workloads. The course briefly describes legislative area (law of EU), analysis of common policies of EU, genesis and incidence of structural policy of EU with special attention to regions, regional and social policy, solving unemployment issue, and also questions of monetary policy, building monetary union as well as functioning of so called other policies. The attention is paid also to phase of active integration policy in relation to states of central and eastern Europe, process of restructuralization of EU institutions as well as issue of educational system and school institutions. The aim of the tutorial is analysis of issues, preparation of seminar papers and further discussion on given topics.

    6. EU policies, common policies (trade, transport and agricultural policy)
    7. Monetary EU policy (Economic and monetary union)
    8. Coordinated policies of EU (social, energetic, developmental)
    9. Regional policy of EU, structural funds
    10. External relations of EU (foreign, policy, neighbour policy, security and defence policy)
    11. EU and central and eastern Europe (expansion in 2004/2007)
    12. Perspectives of further deepening and expansion of EU, current issue of European integration

Teacher's information
The students elaborate seminar paper on given topic in the extent of 7 pages. In tutorials, the regular active participation in discussion is required. During the semester, the students will be tested once from the knowledge of obligatory literature.
