Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to make the students familiar with legal, historical and political-science aspects related to the political trials of the 50´s. Firstly, the course provides the generally legal-historical analysis of the political trials and their links and then, in a form of reconstruction of the individual cases based on original archive materials, deals with main types of cases. The greatest attention will be paid to analysis of specific cases with active participation of students. After passing the course, the student will be familiar with main connections of abuse of criminal law of the political repression in the 50´s.

  • 1.-2. Introduction to political situation after February 1948, a term political trial, historical roots, retribution
    3.-4. Elementary legislation of the Czechoslovak criminal law applied to the political trials
    5.-.6. Typology of political trials
    7.-14. Analysis of specific case in relation to general typology
