- Course objectives
- The course introduces the historical development of the political system in the Czech Republic from 1918 to the present time in two chronological and thematic parts. In the first part there are the main trends of political system and its subsystems (constitutional, partial and electoral system and bodies of state power) of Czechoslovakia from 1918 to 1989. In the second part there is transformation to democracy after the 1989, disintegration of the Czechoslovakian federation and the process of transformation of constitutional and political system of the Czech Republic, including the final comparison with other Central European countries. Attention is also given to selected issues, representation of political interests, local politics and the role of government in the political process.

Information on the extent and intensity of the course: Přednáška 9 HOD/SEM. - Teacher's information
- A written test will verify understanding of the character and changes of the political system in Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic, the basic subsystems and institutions, as well as the principles of their activities from 1918 to the present. It will have two parts. The first consists of a minimum of 10 closed questions with four possible answers, of which one, more, all, or none of the answers may be right. The second part has analytic-synthetic or comparative interpretation. The condition for the successful completion of the subject is knowledge of obligatory readings and lectures.
