Course objectives
The course aims to enhance students’ ability to actively, steadily and properly express themselves in everyday situations and situations connected with the profession.It improves the ability to understand written documents in relevant areas, leading students to actively use the English language and develop their translation skills.Conversations in the course contributes not only to expanding competence in international communication based on the awareness of terminologically lexical, grammatical and stylistic context.
Learning outcomes
Professional Knowledge:
Students can explain professional English terminology in topical areas as covered in the lectures and exercises.They can explain the characteristics of technical language in their area of expertise.They have the necessary grammatical knowledge and stylistic rules and they can practically use it.
Professional Skills:
Students can apply lexical and grammatical knowledge of the English language in spoken and written expression.They understand English specialist and general texts of medium to higher difficulty and adequately translate them.They have the skills to actively create a coherent text in English in both written and spoken form.
General Qualification:
Students can independently decide which language resources to utilize in the communication situation in order to successfully convey the desired message.

  • 7. Translatological practice 5 - technical text of intermediate difficulty (healthcare).

Assessment methods
Requirements for students:
Prerequisite is intermediate knowledge of the English language and completion of previous English courses as part of the bachelor's degree programme, as well as completing the course English Language 1 as part of the master's degree programme.Students will demonstrate active participation on instruction in order to improve their ability to use English in everyday situations and in their profession, combining written and spoken language.
They are also expected to: prepare for the exercise by completing assignments (own contributions), participate in discussions actively, or submit their individual work (translation).

Evaluation: Ongoing evaluation of individual work (continuous assessment) - presentation and translation of the text in the scope of 2 standard pages
Oral examination on the topics presented in lectures and exercises.
