Course objectives
The aim of the course is to expand and deepen students' communication skills in the field of social and professional communication, emphasizing verbal, non-verbal, and paraverbal communication, dyadic communication, communication in small and large groups, and particularly the significance and use of online and electronic communication in helping professions. The course focuses on effective communication as a key tool for successfully managing risk situations and supporting clients.
Learning outcomes
Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of communication and their application in a professional context. They will be able to identify and address communication barriers and effectively use online tools and technologies. They will develop the ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practical situations, especially in conflict resolution and risk communication.
Syllabus
  • Fundamentals of communication: verbal, non-verbal, paraverbal aspects. Principles of effective dyadic communication and group work. Risk communication and conflict resolution strategies. Online and electronic communication in helping professions: challenges and opportunities. Ethics and legal framework of online communication in public administration and social services. Use of communication technologies for support and intervention in helping professions. Case studies and practical applications of communication strategies in various contexts.
Teaching methods
Teaching methods include lectures, home preparation, and practical exercises.
Assessment methods
Continuous completion of assigned tasks supplemented by a test, with class participation potentially having a positive impact on the overall grade.
