Course objectives
The aim of the course is to develop communication skills in the English language (written and spoken) in the field of medical communication, to introduce students to the professional terminology of dentistry and dental hygiene and also to situations that may occur in the profession of dental hygienist. The course includes practice in basic language skills (primarily speaking, but also listening, reading, and translating) with emphasis on comprehension of professional text and the ability to communicate in situations specific to the health care profession. Upon completion of the course, the student will be familiar with common medical terms, medical documentation, and be able to respond in a variety of situations relevant to the profession.

    2. Human body (body parts, systems, organs)
    3. Anatomy of head and oral cavity
    4. Teeth anatomy and vocabulary (types, deciduous and permanent teeth, eruption)
    5. Dental problems I (common dental problems, symptoms, illnesses)
    6. Dental problems II (serious problems, tooth anomalies)
    7. Ambulance (patient first visit, personal data, medical history)

Assessment methods
The course is completed by credit, which will take the form of a seminar presentation - a given medical topic prepared in the form of a PPT or a frontal/interactive oral presentation. The condition for the award of credit is at least 80% attendance at the class.
