Course objectives
The course provides practical advice and theoretical information on how to assign, process, submit and defend the thesis. Students can consult the choice of their topic, the delimitation of their research problem, chosen research methods, processing of data gathered, assessment of results etc. The course is based on students actively seeking consultation.
Learning outcomes
Professional Knowledge: Having completed the course, students will: a) understand the demands of faculty on the quality and formal requirements of undergraduate work, b) be able to explain how it is necessary to use literature literature and sources and how to quote them, c) be able to recapitulate the preparation requirements for individual consultations with their supervisor.
Professional Skills: Students will be able to formulate a research topic, generate theoretical and empirical goals, actively search out the required current research results using the EBP method.
General Qualification: Having completed the course, student are able to design and implement a basic empirical investigation.
Competences: Having completed the course, students can prepare, implement, present and defend a simple project.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction to the issues - significance of the bachelor's thesis.
  • 2. Working with literature, references, creating searches, bibliographic databases and EBP.
  • 3. Content structure of the bachelor's thesis: topic selection, formulation of the title, stage of processing, outline of the bachelor’s thesis, annotations, main text, methodology, empiricism, discussion and conclusion.
  • 4. Cooperation with the student’s bachelor’s thesis supervisor.
  • 5. Formal layout of the thesis: structure of the text, numbering of the chapters and subchapters, graphic aspect of the the thesis, creation of frequency tables, charts, quoting images, appendices, abbreviations used, etc.
  • Students choose their supervisors based on either their own topics or based on topics published by individual instructors. If a student decides to take the practical part research investigation in the practical part of the thesis, they need to approach the Centre for Empirical Research (CEV), which will advise on the appropriate choice of methods, assessment process and interpretation.

Assessment methods
80% active participation in seminars. For the credit, students submit completed reports of their bachelor theses with the signature of the supervisor and of the Head of Institute, i.e. their thesis topic has been accepted and they can therefore continue further work on their project.
