- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to present the sources of cognition, especially scientific, to students. The role of science as theoretical system is discussed as well as the role of facts and data in science, issue of legitimization of scientific findings and basic problems in current theory and methodology on both general level and on the level of relations between theories and methodological approaches used in social sciences.

5. Paradigms in science, paradigmatic matrix
6. Authentication of theory
7. Positivism. Objectivity and measurement, quantitative approaches
8. Understanding and interpretation. Subjectivity and meaning, qualitative approaches
9. Mutual negotiations. Interaction and systemic dynamics, integrated approaches
10. Quality of scientific findings, evaluation
11. Problem of values in social sciences
12. Application of results of scientific research in social sciences, role, interpretation
