Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce in detail the development of political party system in central Europe from the beginnings till nowadays. Besides historical development of political parties, the course will include mainly theoretical way-outs of the issue. The attention will paid also to transformation of parties and political party systems after 1989. The students will thereby enlarge their knowledge of political discipline regarding political parties and political party system and will be able to confront gained knowledge with current party system in central Europe. They will deepen also knowledge of political phenomena connected with current politics in region (e.g. europeazation, populist tendencies etc.)

    2. Beginnings of modern political society in liberal era
    3. Nationalism and its influence on formation of political programmes
    4. The rise of political party spirit from World War I
    5. Democratic parties and totalitarian movement and their programmes between two World Wars
    6. Nazism in central Europe
    7. Programmes of resistance movements 1939-1945
    8. Foundation of communist regimes and fates of political parties in central Europe
    9. Liquidation of civil society and democratic movements and programmes
    10. Parties and their programmes in exile
    11. Programme of reform movements in central Europe in cold war era
    12. Transformation of political systems - old and new programmes
