Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide the students, which are supposed to have previous experience with elementary knowledge of Polish language. The attention will be paid to Polish phonetic system and this will correspond to character of tutorial. This main aim will be gradually added by learning of grammar and formation of elementary vocabulary. In the first case, the grammar will be the first part of a two-semester course which should at least cover the elementary Polish grammar. In the second case, the choice of vocabulary and character of tutorial will correspond to aim which is mainly ability of conversation in Polish language. It is conditioned by the fact that teaching will be focused rather practically on the great activity of students. Therefore, the grammar will be interpreted by Czech linguistic terminology. Correct pronunciation, managing of elementary grammar staff and orientation in everyday communication situations are the levels on which the course of Polish language is based.

  • 1. Introduction to study of Polish language
    2. Symbol and phonetic system of Polish language - alphabet, compounds, soft and hard pronunciation of consonants, consonants l, g, h, k
    3. Pronunciation of Polish vowels, vowels ó, i and y, accent
    4. Pronunciation of nasal vowels ą, ę
    5. Polish verb (classification and description) - conjugation of verb być and verbs of 1st class in present, verbs of 1st class ending in -ować
    6. Conjugation of verbs of 2nd class
    7. Conjugation of verbs of 3rd class, conjugation of verbs of the same class ending in -em, esz
    8. Modal verbs moć and musieć in present
    9. Nouns (classification and description) - Polish inflection
    10. Plural formation of nouns of masculine gender denoting / non denoting persons
    11. Plural formation of nouns of feminine and neuter gender
    12. 1st and 4th case of nouns

Active participation in lessons and fulfilling assigned tasks. Pre-exam credit will be conditioned by passing the grammatical test, which will be based on course content.
