Course objectives
Detailed presentation of the issue of dominant development trends of Czech political thinking from its origins till present day with emphasis on main politico-ideological directions characterizing specifics of thinking of European society from Middle Ages till current postmodern situation. The context of wide panorama of ideological trends reflected by Czech political elites in transformations of the form of the Czech society and its statehood and real (and unreal) alternatives of self-realization of the Czech nation and other inhabitants of the territory of historic countries are mentioned as well. The analysis of individual trends will also present unusual affluence and colourfulness of political life projecting to literature, art and other forms of everyday life. Seminar teaching following other historical and political subjects (Totalitarian and Authoritative Regimes in Central and Southeast Europe in the 20th century, History of Czechoslovakia, Germany in Modern Time etc.) will be dedicated to analysis of connections of Czech political thinking with political development of central European region and individual countries.
