Course objectives
LECTURE The subject provides basic knowledge orientation of the terminology, history and content of the activities related to the availability and quality of social services. Also it will briefly explain the legislative basis for the social services in the CZ issues and will also address with the supervision in the helping professions. In the seminar, students will have the opportunity to try out the theoretical knowledge in practice. The aim of the subject is to provide a functional link between the theoretical base and practical application of acquired findings. 1. Definition of the term social services, the availability and quality of social services, trends in historical development. The legal regulation of social services in European countries. 2. The development of legislation standard which are regulating the conditions for the provision of social services in the Czech Republic since 1990. Formal and legislative framework for ensuring the availability and quality of social services, Czech-British project. The Social Services Act, the typology of social services. 3. Community planning of social services, definition of basic concepts, basic characteristics and definitions of community planning of social services and its aims, benefits and functions of participants of KPSS. 4. The basic charter, organizational and procedural rules, the creation and consolidation of organizational structures KPSS. 5. The process of community planning of social services phase. 6. Communication in the process of social services planning. 7. Public and social service users participation in the process of community planning of social services. 8. History and development and review of social services quality standards and its criteria. Social Services Inspectorate. 9. Characteristics of the particular parts of quality standards, teamwork, management and generic quality standards. Objectives and methods of providing social services. 10. Protection of the rights of persons, dealing with applicants for service, service agreement, individual planning of social services. 11. Documentation for the provision of social services, complaints about the quality of social services, links to external resources. 12. Personnel and organization ensuring of social services, employees professional development, local and temporal availability of provided social services , awareness about provided social service, environment and conditions, emergency situations, improvement of the service quality. SEMINAR The seminar is focused on the practice of specific methods and techniques related to the availability, quality and the skills required for the utilization of theoretical knowledge in the course Availability and quality of social services. Every student is actively participating in drills of model situations following the procedures, that will be explained in lectures. During the seminar, students will also discuss the topicality and necessity of social services planning and implementation of social services quality standards. 1. Supervision of Balints group. 2. SWOT analysis. 3. Transformation of residential social services. 4. Creation of a basic Charter of organizational and conference rules. 5. Creating and strengthening of the organizational structures KPSS. 6. Training methods for determining user needs. 7. Communication with the public. 8. Practice of making goals and measurement of community social services plan. 9. Practice of making goals, mission and principles of social services. 10. Training of techniques negotiating with the prospective service users. 11. Practising the contract for the provision of social services compilation. 12. Practice making individual planning in social services.
Syllabus
  • The scope and contents of the individual work of students and checking methods.
    Completion of an essay - a minimum of 5 pages - on a topic of their own choice from the syllabus of lectures or seminars subject. Each student will choose a topic and notify the teacher within 14 days via e-mail about his/her topic. Literature the students will use as a source will include 3 titles from the field of basic literature at minimum and 1 degree in the field of literature recommended. The basic criterion for assessment of the essay quality will be the demonstration of his/her ability to work with scientific texts, with emphasis on appropriate propositions linking of the individual authors into a coherent logical framework and the ability to translate theoretical knowledge into practice.
    Submitted correspondence tasks will teacher checks and notify individually any shortcomings or suggestions for reworking via e-mail. The consultations (personal, electronic) can student appropriately use for the time to deal with uncertainties in the processing of tasks. Processing is a prerequisite for obtaining acredit.
