Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide elementary outline of development of public administration in Czech lands (Czechoslovakia), enable the orientation in system of public administration and its components, state administration and self-administration, in individual historical periods, to form initial frame for deeper understanding of modern administrative system and for further study in specialized subjects in the frame of theoretical background of the field. With regard to specialisation of the study field, the main attention will be aimed at development of the administration and self-administration in Czech lands from 1948.

  • 1. Territorial development and territory administrative division of Czech state and individual countries
    2. Administration of the Czech state from the 10th century till 1526 (monarchic, estate, financial, judicial)
    3. Administration of the Czech state from1526 till 1848
    4. Particular administration till 1848 (municipal, patrimonial, church)
    5. Administrative system of Austrian state in 1848-1918 with focus on Czech lands (constitutional development, political administration)
    6. Administrative system of Austrian state in 1848-1918 with focus on Czech lands (self-administration, organization of justice)
    7. Administrative system of Czechoslovakia in 1918-1938 (constitutional development, legislative and executive power)
    8. Administrative system of Czechoslovakia in 1918-1938 (political administration, self-administration, judicial organization)
    9. Administration in 1938-1945 (emigration government, territory of Protectorate and Sudetenland)
