- Course objectives
- The aim of the course English 1 is that the graduates are able to lead basic communication in English about topics relating to their future profession, orientation in these topics (specialized word-stock in PA 1), as well as development of language skills of general English. The focus will be put on all parts of study of Language: Grammar, Writing, Listening, Speaking and especially on part READING. Accompanying grammar material: test according to the certificate PET - READING. In the group of pre-intermediate students (the students without school-leaving examinations in English) there will be revison of basic language skills, unifies the language level of the students. The excercises will be focused on all areas of language study: grammar, writing, listening, speaking, and especially on the part of READING. Accompanying grammar material: test according to the certificate KET - READING. Due to the complexity of professional topics, the lessons for the Beginners group will not take place . Study Outcomes: Professional Knowledge: Students will acquire the basic knowledge and vocabulary for work in a consulting company, private or public sector, for work in a small team, from home or in a large international company. Furthermore, they will acquire knowledge of the management of an organization, work in an international company, the general structure and functioning of a company, organization of international festivals, small business management, search and placement of executive management and the opportunities of women in high positions and boards of a company. General Skills: Students will be able to name their positions and describe their workload, talk about current events and the currently completed projects. They will be able to describe their office or the building in which it operates. They will be able to start conversation on the phone and take or leave a message, speak about the events that took place some time in the past and have ended. They will be able to describe events in the future, their future plans and upcoming events to take place in the following days. General Qualification: Students will be capable of basic orientation in a text - search for information needed and orientation in the text, comprehension of selected paragraphs and of the text as a whole. Testing by the KET / PET test, part READING. Competences: Students will be able to describe the structure of the company they work in, including foreign branches and the strengths and weaknesses of the company. They will be able to talk about people and their jobs in the organization, to prepare for a job interview and talk about what they expects from the new job and what they can offer to the employer.

- The condition for obtaining credit is active participation in consultations.
Pass-mark of the test on grammar and vocabulary from selected lessons of the textbook - 60%.
Pass-mark of the test KET / PET READING - 60%.
Credit for distance study - performance in activities, passing the credit test.
The instructor will notify the students on the topics that have not been fully lectured for them to seek in the compulsory literature or at the e-learning site.
