Course objectives
The course introduces the circumstances of formation and development of sociologic thought, with principal sociologic personalities, concepts and issues. The course is divided into three blocks. The first one introduces sociology in the system of social science and approximates historical circumstance of its origin. The second block deals with key personalities and concepts of classical and modern sociologic theories and introduces history and present state of the discipline in Czech lands. The final block leaves concentration of interpretation of personalities and concept and deals with presentation of sociologic issues: the question of social inequalities, powers, issue of culture and socialization.

To read continuously obligatory literature of the course and on this base pass two partial tests from reading. To hold a presentation (or co-presentation) in tutorial. To pass successfully final test composed of circa ten questions with closed answers.
