- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic principles of information systems and with the possible uses of GIS in public administration. Students will become familiar with topics related with the implementation of new technologies and learn how to work with professional programs, which are used in GIS creation systems. The main objective of the course is to develop students' knowledge and skills required for practical application of GIS. After successful completion of this course, students will be able to present the basic system configuration of GIS. They will be able to understand and adopt opinions on the issues of information systems in the context of historical development and they will be able to apply theoretical knowledge to practical examples. They will understand the basic functions for the creation of GIS and also acquire pointers to navigate the vast area of software products. Based on the assigned term paper, the students will learn to create content maps and link files of various formats. Study Outcomes: Professional Knowledge: Students can define the basic system configuration of information systems, they can characterize development trends in the implementation of GIS in public administration, describe the basic features of software products, know the essence of implementing e-governance and they can determine its importance to improving communication with the public. The students are also well informed in the strategies of implementation of information systems and are able to create a basic analysis of the introduction of new technologies. They can describe the use of information and communication technologies in addressing technical issues in the area of e-governance implementation. Professional Skills: Using the expertise in the field of territorial information systems, the students are able to apply modern technology on practical examples and they are able to apply modern methods and approaches in the field of information systems management. They actively present their own views or the opinions of their team. They know how to use ICT for organizational, presentational and analytical work. General Qualification: Students can independently decide which functions and methods to use in the field of information systems implementation practice.

4. IS technology implementation in public administration
5. Basic documents and legislation, principles and use of electronic signatures and encryption
6. Geographical information systems
7. Registries - the population, the police, the Territorial Identification Registry of Addresses (UIR-ADR), real estate, business entities
8. Land registry, the land registry map, digital technical map, addresses, descriptive numbers, orientation numbers
9. E-governance implementation, the document Digital Agenda for Europe 2020
10. The information systems of the public administration in the Czech Republic and the EU (e-Government, eStat)
11. Standardization of public administration information systems, IS of local and regional authorities
12. The main commercial products used to create territorially-oriented information systems
13. Best practices
The seminar extends the content of the lectures. The aim is to teach the students to link theoretical knowledge to practice, to teach them to work in a professional GIS application which enables the display of data organized in tables and content maps Students will learn to analyse the data and present the results of the information displayed, and also to actively and independently search for information relevant to the selected topic, work with the literature, present the elaborated topic in front of their colleagues and defend their work in the subsequent seminar discussion.

- The course is conducted as a system of lectures and consultations on the selected topic, students have the opportunity to consult individually each selected issue unit through the communication technology of the e-course interface in Moodle at the e-portal of the faculty. Published here is the electronic academic support for classes, as well as practice and correspondence tasks and tests. Credit requisite: submission of a term paper.
The instructor will notify the students on the topics that have not been fully lectured for them to seek in the compulsory literature or at the e-learning site.
