Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The course is based on theoretical lessons. It expands on medical knowledge relevant for professional clinical nursing care in the area of oral health. The course familiarizes students with preventive care in pediatric and adult stomatology and with common clinical conditions and diseases of the oral cavity.
Syllabus
  • 1. Preventive stomatology.
    2. Caries (definition, prevalence, causes/etiology, clinical manifestation, treatment and care). Periodontal disease (definition, prevalence, causes/etiology, clinical manifestation, treatment and care). Orthodontics; restorative stomatology; parodontology.
    3. Diseases of the oral cavity (necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis, candidiasis, aphtha, herpes simplex, salivary gland disorders).
    4. Malignant diseases of the oral cavity (etiology, clinical manifestation, treatment and care).
    5. Oral, dental and maxillofacial surgery (congenital abnormalities, glossectomy, mandibulectomy, trauma, esthetic surgery).
    6. Dental practice and dental clinics. Visit to a dental/oral surgery clinic.
    7. Dental hygiene in HIV positive and AIDS patients.
