Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The course follows the obligatory subject Methods and Techniques of Social Research and provides the students with principal orientation in modern statistics and its usage in public administration. The course contains: firstly, collection and processing of statistical data, rules for composition and reading of statistical charts and graphs, interpretation of descriptive characteristics of statistical files. Next, it concentrates on explanation of substance of regressive and correlation analysis as principal instruments of researching relations between mass phenomena and possibilities of their usage in practice, on the most probable models, especially normal division and on concept of statistical induction, including processes of testing statistical hypotheses, always with emphasis on their usage in decision practice. The course comprises also composition of time lines, its analysis and usage for prognosis making and presentation of modern trends of index theory.

Teacher's information
The graduate will be able to understand and use statistical data, will be presented with rules of their collection and processing, with rules of composition and reading statistical charts and graphs and with interpretation of descriptive characteristics of statistical files. They will be introduced the basics of regressive and correlation analysis as principal instruments of research of relations between mass phenomena and possibilities of their usage in practice. To understand the most probable models, especially normal division and concept of statistical induction, including processes of testing statistical hypotheses, always with emphasis on their usage in decision practice. To compose time lines, analyse them and use them for prognosis making. They will be presented modern trends of index theory.
