- Course objectives
- The subject aims at getting the students familiar with a systemic view of nursing as an integral part of the health care system with qualified adult nurses as agents of professional activity. The subject explains the contemporary scientific/holistic approach to individual health and its impact on economic transformation and changes in the organisational systems of health care. It also characterizes current demands in the society in a European dimension in health policy and implementation of wide-ranging changes accompanied by novel legislation and standards. Expanding roles of nurses are reflected in professional education and functional profiles in clinical practice. The ´functional health patterns´ model delineates nursing activity and constitutes a structure for the assessment of health status. On completion of the course, the student will be orientated in the systemic approach to nursing and will understand the functions and competences of adult nurses. The student will be able to apply a functional health pattern structure to assess the health status of individuals, families and communities.
