Course objectives
The course provides fundamental findings in the field of general sociologic theory. It is derived from essence of classical as well as modern sociologic thought and deals with description and analysis of social environment, interhuman interaction, human acting, behaviour and communication. The course briefly introduces fundamental sociologic paradigms and directions, it shows society and its system, it deals with social structure and stratification, social dynamics, social formations and groups, mechanicals of social control, social conformity and deviation and also individual and his social status in society, and moreover it considers also social phenomena and relations in sphere of social work. Study Outcomes: Professional Knowledge: After finishing the course, students will be familiar with the basic sociological categories and concepts and able of a sociological view of the society. They will also acquire an insight into definition and genesis of social issues in regard to their solutions. Professional Skills: Students understand the main sociological thoughts and approaches, understands the importance of the subject and the study of sociology. General Qualification: They understand the knowledge acquired during their lessons and can apply them in further studies and in every-day life. Competences: Students can use the knowledge in various spheres of social life, they understand the nature of social phenomena and processes. It is expected that students improve their knowledge constantly during their study.

Teacher's information
For the completion of the course, it is necessary produce and present a paper on a chosen topic. Written exam is focused on verification of students' knowledge of the basics of general sociological theory and also of the main sociological personalities and directions.
The instructor will notify the students on the topics that have not been fully lectured for them to seek in the compulsory literature or at the e-learning site.
