Course objectives
The course is aimed at acquainting the students with care for women's health according to their age, health condition of reproductive organs and gynaecological diseases. The course presents differences in care for women in the field of primary, secondary and tertiary health care. The course describes the care for women with emphasis on individual needs of girls and women in different life stages - childhood, adolescence, reproduction period, and menopause. It also points out the importance of reproductive and sexual health, prevention of diseases of female reproductive organs. Having finished the course, the students will have good grasp of the issues of nursing care for women both in health and in illness.
Syllabus
  • 1. Preventive care for women within the system of primary care (gynaecological anamnesis, gynaecological examination (cytology, colonoscopy), gynaecological examination methods, preventive schemes in the Czech Republic.
    2. Contraception and education in family planning, termination of pregnancy, abortion. Minor and major operations in gynaecology (vaginal, abdominal).
    3. Gynaecological inflammations, urine incontinence, abnormal positions of internal sexual organs, descensus, venereal diseases.
    4. Issues of child and youth gynaecology. Sexual and reproductive health. Preventive schemes and WHO recommendations.
    5. Benign oncological diseases. Prevention and continuing care. Most frequent malign oncological diseases (vulva, vagina, cervix, endometrium, oviducts, ovaries).
    6. Examination methods in obstetrics. Ectopic pregnancy, sterility, fertility, infertility, assisted reproduction.
    7. Preventive care for women (obstetric anamnesis). Body changes in pregnancy, diagnostics in pregnancy, physiological and high-risk pregnancy, organization of antenatal care.
    8. Spontaneous and pathological delivery. Obstetric operations, emergencies in obstetrics and gynaecology.
    9. Care for women in puerperium. Physiological and pathological puerperium.
    10. Sexual and reproductive health, preventive schemes. Nurse's educational activities, educational plans
    11. in care for woman, periods of female life. WHO recommendations.
    12. Gynaecological nursing, primary and secondary gynaecological care, nursing process in gynaecology of child and adolescent age.
    13. Nursing process for women with inflammatory disease of sexual organs, with sterility and with endometriosis.
    14. Nursing process for women before and after minor gynaecological intervention.
    15. Nursing process for women with benign and malign oncological disease.
    16. Nursing process for women within radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
    17. Nursing process for women with mammary gland disease.
    18. Nursing process for women with gynaecological emergency.

Teacher's information
The contact instruction is implemented through the system of tutorials on selected topics. The combined part of the studies is implemented in the e-learning course environment at e-portal http://elearning.fvp.slu.cz/. The students have study supports including correspondence tasks available for instruction there. The course is concluded by a credit in written or oral form; within it, the student will demonstrate knowledge of basic and recommended reading and be able to discuss the processed correspondence tasks. The student will have the opportunity to consult individually the topics studied, through individual or group tutorials or electronic mail.
80% attendance at practical sessions (the teacher can specify substitutive way of fulfilment of study duties to students who cannot attend compulsory lessons for serious reasons)
Credit requirements: attendance at clinical seminars, credit essay - nursing care for a client with gynaecological disease. Written test with cut-off score: 80 %.
Requirements on exam: oral exam.
