- Course objectives
- The course is designed as theoretical-practical complex. It is included in the complex of clinical nursing courses. It familiarizes the students with clinical conditions and with diseases affecting skin and external sexual organs. It familiarizes with methods and procedures in diagnostics and therapy of patients, including adequate nursing (complication-preventing) care within primary, secondary and tertiary health care.
- Syllabus
- 1. Primary care: Health support and prevention of origin of skin diseases. Basic examinations of skin, hair and nails, common skin diseases (pruritus). Secondary care: Diagnostic procedures and laboratory tests.
2. Inflammatory skin diseases (dermatitis, exfoliative dermatitis, eczemas, psoriasis); infectious skin diseases (foliculitis, furunculus, carbunculus, cellulitis, herpes zoster); candidiases, parasitic skin diseases: pediculosis, scabies.
3. Autoimmune diseases (pemphigus vulgaris, toxic ká epidermal necrosis, scleroderma, dermatomyositis). Malign skin diseases (basal cellular carcinoma, squamous cellular carcinoma, malign melanoma). Clinical conditions (herpes genitalis, syphylitis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomononasis, bacterial vaginitis, candidoses, etc.) Sexually transmissible diseases (epidemiology, clinical manifestation, therapy and care).
4. Care for skin in geriatric patients, in patients with black skin, in patients with AIDS and in HIV positive patients.
5. NC (Nursing care) for patient with dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis.
6. NC for skin in geriatric patients.
7. NC for patient with furunculus, carbunculus, herpes zoster, candidosis, pediculosis, scabies.

- The condition of awarding of credit is compulsory attendance to lessons, with minimally 80% attendance; the teacher will specify substitutive way of fulfilment of study duties to students who cannot attend compulsory lessons for serious reasons.
Fulfilment of credit test criteria - cut-off score: 80%.
