Course objectives
The course is focused on acquiring basic theoretical overview of the discipline of pedagogy of leisure time. Acquiring the basic terminology. Students apply knowledge acquired in a combination of special pedagogy expertise - in relation to particular groups of disabled people. As part of instruction in person and of the study material, students are acquainted with selected websites presenting selected leisure-time activities.
Learning outcomes
Professional knowledge:
- Students can describe and characterize the pedagogy of free time.
- Students know the basic terminology of pedagogy of leisure time.
- Students can describe and characterize the types of leisure-time activities for different groups of disabled people.

Professional skills:
- Students understand the importance of leisure time for human life.
- Students can evaluate the positive and negative effects of individual leisure-time activities on the basis of the information provided with regard to selected groups of disabled persons.

General qualification:
- Students can use selected information to implement, organize and plan leisure-time activities for groups of disabled persons.

  • 1. Definition of leisure-time activity in relation to particular types of disability.
  • 2. Definition of basic terminology - activities, leisure-time activities, physical activity, structured physical activity, etc.
  • 3. Function of leisure-time activities for people with different types of disability.
  • 4. Leisure-time activities for people with intellectual disabilities I. - possibilities, specifics, organization.
  • 5. Leisure activities for people with mental disabilities II. - possibilities, specifics, organization.
  • 6. Leisure-time activities for people with sensory disabilities I. - options, specifics, organization.
  • 7. Leisure activities for people with sensory disabilities II. - possibilities, specifics, organization.
  • 8. Leisure-time activities for people with physical disabilities I. - possibilities, specifics, organization.
  • 9. Leisure activities for people with physical disabilities II. - possibilities, specifics, organization.
  • 10. Leisure-time activities for mentally disabled persons - distinguishing from the theoretical concept of leisure time, possibilities, specifics.
  • 11. Leisure-time activities for people with ASD - possibilities, specifics, organization.
  • 12. Institutional provision of leisure-time activities, requirements for workers in the area of leisure-time activities.

Assessment methods
80% participation of students in seminars, elaboration and presentation of assignments given by the instructor as the requirement of passing the course. Credit is awarded on the basis of continuous performance of assignments.
