Course objectives
The course is conceived as a theoretical-practical unit. Students are acquainted with new services and types of facilities that fall within the scope of after-care, and it leads them to an understanding of palliative care. They are always familiarized with care of women suffering from gynecological cancer in advanced or terminal stages the aim of which is to relieve pain and other physical and mental suffering, preserve dignity and provide support to the client and assistance to their relatives / carers.
Learning outcomes
Professional Knowledge: Students know the concept of palliative and hospice care.
Professional skills: Students are able to adopt palliative care methods.
General Qualification: Students are well versed in the gray zone and in the comfort and palliative care.
Competences: Having completed the course, students are able to care for the woman and newborn in palliative care in collaboration with a physician.

  • 1. Principles of palliative care.
  • 2. Standards of palliative care.
  • 3. Specialised palliative care.
  • 4. Basic organizational forms of specialized palliative care.
  • 5. Basic structure of a course of palliative care.
  • 6. Care of dying patients in healthcare facilities, discontinuation of treatment and palliative care plan.
  • 7. Hospice care. Care of the dying and of the deceased at home.
  • 8. Comfort palliative care. Gray zone. Care of the dying newborn.
  • 9– 10. Care of family members
