Course objectives
The course objective is to provide information in the discipline of general psychology and personality psychology. These are essential for all the helping professions and relate to work with people and understanding topics such as the structure of personality, information processing, cognitive spheres of personality, motivation, and more.
Learning outcomes
Professional Knowledge:
- students can characterize the basic terms that relate to general psychology
- students can define the terminology of personality psychology.
- students are well versed in cognitive, sensory, and motivational processes
- students can briefly assess and evaluate various information about the structure of personality
- students are familiar with the current basic psychological literature, domestic and partly also foreign
- students know the essence of core topics in the psychological context, both on the theoretical and historical basis
Professional Skills:
- students can use the knowledge of general psychology and personality psychology in the professional special education area
- students analyzes the structure of human personality
- students can use and apply knowledge about general psychology
General qualification:
- students are familiar with the modification of various psychological works, knows the essence of individual psychological disciplines
- students can apply knowledge in the discipline of personality psychology in the preparation of working with disabled people
Syllabus
  • 1. Defining the subject and goals of psychology, basic methods of psychology. Basic theoretical schools in psychology Basic concepts of general psychology - psyche, consciousness and unconsciousness.
  • 2. Attention, attention characteristics, controlled and automated information processing, sleep.
  • 3. Sensory processes - the characteristics of sensory organs, types of receptors, stimulus thresholds. Perception - the organization of perceptual field, spatial vision, perception of motion.
  • 4. Memory - types of memory, memory models, memory processes, forgetting.
  • 5. Ideas, types of ideas, functions of ideas, ideas in cognitive approaches.
  • 6. Thinking - kind of thinking, decision making, problem solving, intelligence, creativity, thinking and speech. Learning - types of learning, classical and instrumental conditioning, social learning.
  • 7. Motivation - concept and principles of motivation, motivation folders, themes and types. Emotions - concept, components of emotions, expressions of emotion, subjective experience of emotion, functions of emotions.
  • 8. History and definition of personality psychology. The subject of study of personality psychology.
  • 9. Theoretical approaches to the study of personality. Methods of psychological analysis of personality.
  • 10. Personality structure. Dynamics and personality development.
  • 11. Temperament Emotions, frustrations, conflicts.
  • 12. Character and morality. Motivation and motives. The notion of “I”.

Assessment methods
According to the assignment, students will complete at least 2 correspondence tasks from the study support. Combined form of the exam: the student must complete a short orientation test with 70%, then proceed to the oral exam.

Teacher's information
Personal contact in teaching, consulting hours. During continuous study, the student uses the study support and processes selected correspondence tasks. Here he will also demonstrate knowledge of compulsory literature and contact teaching lectures. The student will be able to continuously consult individually studied topics of the subject through e-mail, individual or group consultations.
