Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce the student to the issue of working with therapies and therapeutic and activation techniques within the field of special education. Specifically, students will learn about the definition and characteristics of activation activities and therapies, the theoretical basis for these activities, the structure and organization of work, the goals, principles and conditions of activation activities, the need for and inclusion in the current education of people with special needs.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, the student will be able to:
- acquire the basics of special education research and project plans,
- to define and theoretically define therapies and activation activities in special pedagogy, in the context of complex rehabilitation,
- briefly define the history of the use of therapeutic procedures in the teaching and helping professions,
- describe the starting points of therapies and the basis of therapies in special pedagogy,
- characterize psychotherapy as a starting discipline for therapy in special pedagogy and its principles,
- analyze the relationship between therapies and the ontogenetic triangle as the primary diagnostic starting point for working with therapies,
- know the methods, means of selected therapeutic methods,
- compile a goal, sub-goals and procedure for specific activation activities,
- assess the risks, circumstances, conditions of the activation process,
- express the relationship between therapeutic and activation activities and special pedagogy in the context of complex rehabilitation,
- describe the structure of the specific activation methodology,
- independently create activation guided by special pedagogy.
Syllabus
  • Definition and definition of activation techniques, therapeutic methods and therapies in special pedagogy. (Subtopics: basic characteristics of the best-known techniques, comprehensive rehabilitation care).
  • Historical context of the use of therapies and activation techniques.
  • Therapy and their diagnostic connections, access connections, therapy in the context of complex rehabilitation care. (Subtopics: Art therapy in special pedagogy, music therapy in special pedagogy).
  • The aim, intention and essence of the use of activation techniques and therapies in special pedagogy.
  • Selected concepts of commonly used therapies - expressive therapy, ergotherapy, animotherapy.
  • Targeting therapies according to the types of disability and people's limits. (Subtopics: sensory stimulation, reminiscence).
  • Activities and therapy as an educational alternative for students with severe multiple disabilities. (Subtopics: holistic music therapy).
