Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the issue of working with therapies and therapeutic and activation techniques in the field of special education. Specifically, students will get acquainted with the definition and characteristics of activation activities and therapies, theoretical background for the activities, structure and organization of work, goals, principles and conditions of activation activities, needs and inclusion in the current education of people with special needs.
Learning outcomes
Expertise:
- the student is able to define and theoretically define therapies and activation activities in special pedagogy
- the student knows the history of the use of therapeutic procedures in general
- the student is able to assess the basis of therapies and the basis of therapies in special education
- the student is able to characterize psychotherapy as a starting discipline for therapies in special education
Professional skills:
- the student is able to analyze the relationship between therapies and the ontogenetic triangle as the primary diagnostic basis
- the student knows the methods, means of selected therapeutic methods
- the student is able to compile a goal, partial goals and procedure for a specific activation activity or therapy
- the student is able to assess the risks, circumstances, conditions of the activation process
General competences:
- the student is able to express the relationship between therapeutic and activating activities and special pedagogy
- the student is able to describe the structure of the methodology of a specific activation or therapy
- the student is able to independently create a specially pedagogically guided activation or therapy

  • 1. Definition and definition of activation techniques, therapeutic methods and therapies in special pedagogy.
  • 2. History of the use of therapies and activation techniques.
  • 3. Therapy and their connections, ontogenetic triangle.
  • 4. Therapy and their context, psychotherapy.
  • 5. Therapy and their connections, physiotherapy.
  • 6. Aim, purpose and essence of the use of activation techniques and therapies in special pedagogy.
  • 7. The actual process and phases of therapies in special pedagogy, moving towards methodological use by special pedagogues.
  • 8. Selected concepts of commonly used therapies - expressive therapies.
  • 9. Selected concepts of commonly used therapies - occupational therapy.
  • 10. Selected concepts of commonly used therapies - animotherapy.
  • 11. Focus of therapies according to types of disabilities and human limits.
  • 12. Activities and therapies as an educational alternative for pupils with severe multiple disabilities.

Assessment methods
Submission of a seminar paper on the topic Written preparation and implementation of activation techniques or therapy for a specific person with a disability (or a child / pupil with SEN). Based on the evaluation of the seminar work, a credit will be awarded.
